- Guide to Metal For Maniacs -This is simply a guide to how everything on this website works.AboutThe main purpose of 'Metal For Maniacs' is to grow the biggest and best encyclopedia for Heavy Metal record collectors on the internet!The ArchiveAnyone can search or browse through the database easily by using any of the options in the main menu.How the archive is built and what it contains; Band Contains the most basic information of the relevant band, albums, and album variations. Album (Can be found by selecting a band) Contains the most basic info of the album such as release date, album-type, tracklist, image of the front cover, and any other additional notes. Here is also where the main information of the archive can be found, read next point! Album variation (Can be found by selecting a album) (This is the information that differenciate 'Metal For Maniacs' from all other archives and ecnyclopedias!) This is the actual editions of the album, if the album was released in many different formats such as vinyl, CD, cassette, and also any different versions/variations of those formats, such as first pressings, test pressings, re-issues...etc, etc.. It can look like this (Each horizontal line on this list is one version of the album);
User Levels'MFM' uses User Levels to regulate the access for new members, veterans, and administrators.User level is calculated out from a members number of approved archive submittings/updates;
Submittings Each of the options listed below counts as a submitting; New band New album New album variation (CD, vinyl, mc....etc) - with or without picture Adding new logo to a existing band Adding a picture of your collection to a existing band Adding front cover scan to an an existing album Adding picture(s) to an existing album variation Updating a existing band with relevant new information Updating a existing album with relevant new information Adding new infoAll registered members can add new data to the archive, as long as the account has not been blocked by an administrator.New data will be reviewed by an administrator before being added to the database. New band New bands must have at least one album and one album variation to be approved by an administrator and added to the database.
